Rev. Larry McRorey grew up in Carrizo Springs, Texas and graduated from Angelo State University in San Angelo, Texas with a Bachelor’s of Business Administration (BBA) in 1987 and a Master’s of Public Administration (MPA) in 1992. While in San Angelo, Larry was active in the Concho Valley Emmaus and Chrysalis Communities and served on the board of United Campus Ministries at Angelo State University. Larry felt the call into ministry early on and entered the candidacy process of the United Methodist Church in 1999.  After attending Licensing School, he was appointed in June 2000 as Associate Pastor to St. Luke United Methodist Church in San Angelo with primary responsibilities in Youth and Family Ministries. In 2002, Larry was accepted into Candler School of Theology at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia earning a Master’s of Divinity (MDiv) degree in May 2005.  Following graduation from seminary, Larry was accepted as a Probationer Minister with the British-American Ministry Programme serving a two point charge with the British Methodist Church in England from September 2005 to August 2006.  He was appointed to the Crosby Circuit of the Liverpool District, rotating among six churches with pastoral responsibility over Moor Lane Methodist Church in Crosby, England as well as Birchdale Road Methodist Church in Waterloo, England.

Larry is currently a probationary elder in the Southwest Texas Conference and is in the second year of Covenant Connection.  The McRoreys have been at First United Methodist Church Alice since August 2006.

Larry and Cathy McRorey have been married for 21 years and have one daughter Ann Elise.  Cathy worked for Dillard's Dept. Stores in San Angelo, Texas, and Buford, Georgia before moving to Alice and fills many roles in the life of the church including United Methodist Women, singing in the choir, teaching children’s Sunday School and serving as co-coordinator for Vacation Bible School. Ann Elise is a seventh grader at William Adams Middle School in Alice, plays bassoon in the school band and is active in athletics.  The McRoreys also have two dogs, Buster and Barkley.

Pastor Larry says, "I feel mission and evangelism are the most crucial elements to the life and well being of the church. We must look beyond ourselves to find where God is calling us to be the church in this place and at this time. I feel my role as pastor of FUMC Alice is to cast a vision of hope and promise and most of all purpose that incorporates a trusting partnership with the laity of the church as we all work together to be effective witnesses to our faith and tradition."
